Welcome to all the new families who have started this last term, the new children are settling in brilliantly and having lots of fun. Don’t forget to look at our facebook page. You can see lots of photos of the activities, learning and fun that the children will be getting up to at Parsonage. We always love to read your comments, as we do on your child’s Tapestry observations. Any dates and notices will also be on facebook. Parsonage Preschool polo t-shirts and sweatshirts are also available, they are on display in the entrance hall if you would like a look.
We are all now enjoying the warm, sunny weather and are having fun exploring in the front garden, looking at what is growing, planting our flowers and watering them, smelling the herbs, hunting for mini beasts, making a bug hotel and so much more!
The children can choose to go outside most of the time so please make sure they come with sun cream on in the morning, bringing a bottle with them (named that can stay at Preschool) and with a named sunhat so they can enjoy the lovely summer weather.
We obviously enjoy exploring water (and mud!) lots when it’s nice and hot, so keep bringing those spare clothes so we can splash about. If the children have their own bags and clothes they can easily change into it makes it easier for them to practise getting themselves changed and being more independent. Thank you to those of you who have already done this.
We are still talking about healthy eating, looking at and tasting different fruit and vegetables, making healthy snacks (a bit more cooking!) and looking in our lunch boxes! We have sent home a Healthy Child Pack which will include our healthy lunch boxes flyer, a dental flyer to help look after your child’s teeth, a tube of toothpaste and a tooth brush! Please make sure you have got yours from your child’s drawer. On a safety note if you put grapes in your child’s lunch box can you please cut them in half, thank you.
The older children are really enjoying our PE sessions which we are doing to help get ready for school, they are bringing PE kits, getting changed and joining in some fun races and games.
Across Preschool we are exploring one of our favourite books ‘ Aliens Love Underpants’, we have been finding out about aliens, where they live, what are they like and what do they like do??? We have been drawing, painting and junk modelling our very own aliens as well as decorating lots of different underpants! We have enjoyed learning the song ‘5 little men in a flying saucer’ to go with this story. If you would like to see some of our aliens and their underpants or our spaceship flying around Earth please do come into Caterpillar Room and have a look.
We have lots of diary dates this term, many to do with ensuring a smooth transition to school for the older children.
We organise a ‘tea party’ for our 3 main feeder schools. We invite you to use our Preschool room from 12.15 to 1.15pm as an opportunity to meet other parents and have a social playtime for your children to get to know others who they will be attending Primary School with. This opportunity will enable you to meet and chat to other parents and set up summer playdates etc. as you wish. This reception teacher have been invited and hope to come and meet you all. Light refreshments will be provided. Although staff will be on site, your children will remain your responsibility throughout the hour.
